Enhancement Development Projects (ELTA-ELSE DPs)
Peer Tutoring
Structured Peer tutoring was an unprecedented strategy the Department of English Language Teaching (DELT) developed and implemented to address the issues faced by a large number of weaker students in English who struggled to cope with the English medium instruction in the Faculty of Business Studies and Finance, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. The main objective of the activity was to select and train the students of higher language proficiency levels while forming a peer-tutoring club to teach the students of lower language proficiency levels under the guidance of the academic staff. This programme was organised to meet the requirements of Activity 5.3 of the AHEAD project funded by the World Bank.
Self-Access Centre (SAC)
The self-access centre is established under Activity 5 of the AHEAD project of the Faculty of Business Studies and Finance to facilitate its students with self-learning opportunities for English language improvement. The key facilities of the SAC are desktop computers with access to online English learning resources and Graded Readers’ Books to cater to different English language proficiency levels of students.
