Biography

Dr. W.A.I Lakmal is a senior lecturer attached to the Department of Banking and Finance, Faculty of Business Studies and Finance, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. Dr. Lakmal obtained a B.A special Degree in Economics from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1999, he received the Master’s Degree  of Social Sciences in Economics from the University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka in 2006. Further he completed his PhD in Economics from the University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka in 2016.  

Dr. Lakmal started his academic career just soon after his graduation as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Economics, University of Colombo prior to joined to the Department of Banking and Finance, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka in 2003. Further, he held the headship of the Department of Banking and Finance during the period of 2008-2009 and 2019-2022.  

He serves as a visiting lecturer at the University of Colombo, the Faculty of Livestock, and Fisheries &Nutrition, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, ICBT campus and Institute of Charted Accountants of Sri Lanka, and serves as a research supervisor at the University of Colombo.
