The faculty of Business Studies and Finance (FBSF) was established on 01 October 1999 by the Government Notification in the Extraordinary Gazette No.1093/8 of Tuesday, 17 August 1999 and remains as the fastest growing faculty of the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka.
The faculty is located at Kuliyapitiya premises of the Wayamba University and consists of four departments of studies, namely, Department of Accountancy and Finance, Department of Banking and Finance, Department of Business Management and Department of Insurance and Valuation.
The FBSF is committed to pursue excellence in teaching courses in the field of Business Studies and Finance disciplines, conducting management researches and community services in the region while making all efforts to be the center of excellence for Business Studies and Finance education in Sri Lanka. In line with this objective faculty manages to offer degrees in the discipline of Business Studies and Finance. As a young faculty among other management faculties of Sri Lanka’s national universities, the FBSF has achieved a great success in several fields when compared to its short period of operational life span. In spite of the growing unemployment among graduates from local universities, the faculty is able to maintain 100% employment ratio for its graduates. Presently over 2000 undergraduate and postgraduate students are studying in the faculty.
There is a good blend of human competencies available in the faculty and it is geared to practice modern teaching and learning techniques at all times. The faculty owns a well-equipped computer laboratory in its own. Majority of faculty’s lecture rooms are provided with fixed multimedia facilities in a way that helps teachers and students to incorporate modern technology in to the learning environment.
